Route : Delhi – Hapur Byepass - Gajraula - Moradabad - Kashipur - Ramnagar - Corbett Established as the first national park of India, on 6th August 1936, it was renamed in 1957 as Corbett National Park, in memory of Jim Corbett, the legendary hunter and naturalist. With the launching of Project Tiger in 1973, the Corbett National Park, was selected as one of the nine tiger reserves. A major landmark in the field of wildlife preservation, Corbett is no doubt one of India's most picturesque and best-known National Parks. While the area of the national park was increased in 1966, to enhance its integrity, there are proposals, to enlarge the national park through the establishment of a wildlife sanctuary, and to establish a corridor of protected areas between Corbett and the proposed Rajaji National Park in the north-west.Jungle Safari in Open Jeeps :  - Bijrani & Durgadevi (from 01 Oct to 30 June).- Jhirna & Sitabani (round the year ) Morning safari - from 6 to 10 AM. Afternoon safari - from 2 to 6 PM. Excursions : Bijrani (5 kms) open jeep safari to explore Corbett Country. Garjia (5kms) a temple atop a hill surrounded by Kosi River. India's most popular wildlife tiger sanctuary, cradled in the foothills of the Himalayas, spreads over an area of 520 sq km. The magnificent Ramganga River flows through the entire length of the Park. Corbett has the highest density of tiger in India.  Other animals include the leopard, elephant, jungle cat, bear, wild boar, sambhar, hog deer, barking deer. Basking along the banks of the Ramganga one finds the slender snouted gharial and the marsh crocodile. The river is rich in the magnificent mahaseer though angling is not permitted inside the National Park.Main Entry Gates : Amdanda Gate - 3 km from Ramnagar,south east of the Tiger reserve.Ideal for day visits. Durgadevi Gate - 30km from Ramnagar,on the north-east of the Tiger reserve.Entry for Lohachaur and Kanda FHR.Vatanvasa Gate - 40km from Kotdwar,north-east of the Tiger reserve. Entry for Halduparao FRH. Terai Gate – For entry into Kanda FRH from Kotdwar side.
